“Let’s Kill Atheists for Their Body Parts”

30 January, 2009

Long before I began surfing the internet regularly, I knew that there were some truly scary people in the world.  The sheriff who lived down the street helped catch Charles Manson (Charlie really screwed up when he started fooling with the National Park Service construction equipment).  The right-wing Christians I’ve met over the years can be really scary.  But a year-and-a-half ago, when I started using the internet for more than maps and weather, I discovered just how scary scary can be.

I stumbled across this over at theologyweb.com:*

What do the other human persons here think ?

No doubt someone will object, saying something obviously ridiculous like, but atheists are persons.

But clearly this is mistaken because anybody without a well developed belief in God is obviously not a full human person.

What could be more obvious than that ?

How many full human persons do you know without a well developed belief in God. Obviously none, because if they were full human person they would have a well developed belief in God.

Now some people might object to killing atheists for there  (and obviously it is there and not thier [sic] as they are not whos but whats ) organs but think of all the full human persons that would benifit [sic] from the organs and the medical research that could be done on these non-persons.

How could anybody object, they are not human persons and if you think we should not kill them then that is just because of out dated ideas and because they must really just want people to suffer. For shame on you !

So what do people think ?

Should we kill these atheist human non-persons for the benifit [sic] of fully human persons ?

Jason

I don’t think he is kidding.
How is saying that an atheist is a person ‘obviously rediculous’?    Well, according to Jason, “anybody without a well developed belief in God is obviously not a full human person. ”  Which god, Jason?  Allah?  Uhuru Mazda?  Zeus?  Which?  And who defines what, exactly, a ‘well developed belief’ is?  Does Jason mean today’s ‘well developed belief’?  And which church?
Then, he shows off his logical abilities:  ‘How many full human persons do you know without a well developed belief in God. Obviously none, because if they were full human person they would have a well developed belief in God.’  Does the term circular reasoning mean anything to Jason?  Using this type of reasoning, I could ask, “How many thinking Christians do you know?  Obviously none, because if they were thinking, they wouldn’t be Christian.”  How many think Jason would object to that line of unreason?  Thought so.
Not to worry, though.  He reasons that the oppression of a minority will achieve a greater good.  All of the organs from atheists can go into fully human people (which, I suspect, means those who think exactly like him).  And from there it is a short trip to another logical fallacy:   ‘How could anybody object, they are not human persons and if you think we should not kill them then that is just because of out dated ideas and because they must really just want people to suffer.’  Ah, the old false dichotomy.  Either you want to kill atheists or you want people to suffer.
Christianity is an all-or-nothing system.  Either you buy into every irrationality embodied in the Nicene Creed (whichever version of it your particular church uses).  If you do not believe precisely the correct things about the right things, you are not a Christian.  If you are not a Christian, you are not saved.  If you are not saved, you are already damned forever.  If you are damned forever, why should you be allowed to live?
So what do I think?  What does it matter.  According to you, I’m not human.
*Please, someone tell me this is a Poe.

  1. Wait, WHAT? Did he just encourage genocide!?
Ack, I’ve seen some really closed-minded and nasty comments regarding atheism but that’s just… just… I can’t even think of a good word to describe how terrible it is!
Since when was killing someone else an outdated idea? Whatever happened to “Thou shalt not kill”?
It’s so scary that some people still think like this!
One smaller think that’s annoying is that his “there not their” statement is grammatically incorrect despite his ridiculous reasoning! 😐

  2. Beth: Welcome to my blog. He is actually ecouraging the killing of a particular part of the population based upon belief, not race, but otherwise, yes. And “Thou shalt not kill” can be more accurately written as “Thou shalt not kill like-minded people.” The Old Testament is rife with genocide.

  3. Well, this is the me – alien other right up front.

If you are 99.99999% with me you are 100% against me. In this guys case, the “we – they” is, at least, right up front.

I’ve met others who told me I should just shoot myself if I didn’t ‘luv gawd’ because my life wasn’t even worth waking up for.

One would be surprised (or perhaps not) to hear how many of these “good” people think that something should be done about us, because we are dangerous.
Oh, they would personally deplore it (well, the necessity, anyway) but important matters require drastic measures, so, many would ‘reluctantly’ give such measure a nod.

Hubbard was right. The fires of the auto da fe are not extinguished, but very carefully banked. The tools of the “questioner” may be locked in a cabnet, but you can bet that they are sharp and oiled.

  4. Sounds like a good idea. Lets do it.

  5. If Jason is serious, he is one twisted bastard. If that’s the best moral sense that Jason’s god can instill in him, I’m not impressed with either his god’s power or his morality.

  6. Do you happen to know where he lives? ‘cos I have some things in store for him…

  7. …..: Big surprise. That would also explain why the religious right has no problem with a million deaths in Iraq. They aren’t humans (according to Jason’s philosophy).

Chappie: But remember, the Bible is the only thing keeping him moral, right?

Carlos: Thanks for stopping by. Don’t stoop to his level, even in jest.

  8. You guys have a very basic(if not misleading) understanding of Christianity. Jason does too.

  9. High level reasoning is a human activity. Those who cannot reason accurately are obviously subhuman. Jason can not reason his way out of a wet tissue. In fact, there are apes that can reason more powerfully than Jason. Therefore Jason should immediately go to the nearest hospital and surrender his organs so that they can be donated to needy apes. I’d be happy to assist. And (((Billy))) – I’m happy to stoop to the level of these assholes if for no other reason than self-defense.

  10. Kizzle: You are right. There is a lot I do not understand about Christianity. I have (and continue to) studied it, but from a rational perspective, it really doesn’t make sense.

Ric: Good reasoning there. When I see a newbie (Carlos) drop by with comments such as these, I worry that, to the theists, it feeds the perception of atheists as immoral (or amoral) bloodthirsty people. You phrase is as self-defense which gives context. Violence without context is something I would expect from some theists — an irrational response. With context, it may be a rational response. You, Ric, are delightfully rational (and no, that was not an insult).

  11. Oh crap, you’ve stuck the ‘rational’ tag on me. I’ll never live it down. And ‘delightful’? What a terrible thing to do to a curmudgeon! Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

I’m so distraught that I’m going to have to go out and get bloodthirsty on a Christian or two. At least in Rome the Romans brought them to me.

  12. Okay, how about, “You are misanthropically rational and curmudgeonly delightful”? Does that soothe the Peeved Pussy? Sorry. Grumpy Lion.

And, when in Rome, you left a few uneaten and look at the problems it’s created. Pshaw.

  13. Dammit, I refuse to be delightful. Ain’t gonna happen, no matter how you twist the words.

As for the Rome thing, not my fault. Stupid Romans couldn’t catch all the sneaky, lying little creeps. And then they ran out of Neros.

  14. Do you sleep with the lights on? If not, then you are delightful.

They kept roming too far, and missed em all? Is that your story?

  15. To repeat, Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

  16. You’ve read my jokes, right? And you still ask if I have any decency>

  17. Mark 16: 16 He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.

    Repent!

  18. Matthew 6:5

  19. Elidet: Thanks for stopping by.

“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synogogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.”

    And your point is?

  20. My bad. It was meant for Micky.

  21. Ah. I get it. He was a bit of a pest, but he hasn’t shown up since.
