A Scrabble Word
14 January, 2009(((Wife))) and I were playing Scrabble yesterday. Our game has been improving since we got the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary. We’ve discovered lots and lots of new words. Words like ‘za,’ ‘qi,’ and ‘zuz.’ (((Wife))) converted ‘rude to ‘prude’ by adding the word ‘tup.’
I checked the dictionary. I am familiar with the word. I have run across it in some historical documents as a slang word for intercourse. I wasn’t sure if slang, specifically sexual slang, was allowed (after all, ‘fuck,’ ‘cunt,’ and others are NOT in the dictionary).
Sure enough. It was in there. ‘Tup’ means, of course, ‘to have intercourse with a ewe.’
I immediately asked, “So where do you suppose the word ‘tuppence’ came from? Is that what the shepherd gets paid?”
(((Wife))), without missing a beat (she IS the funny one, after all), replies, “And tupperwear? Would that be velcro gloves?”
It is unusual when (((Wife))) and I can complete a Scrabble game without erupting, at least once, into peals of laughter.
Thank you very much. I always enjoy an opportunity to learn new sexually charged slang and creative ways to make use of the letter “U” when scrabbling.
Ram: Welcome to my blog. Feel free to browse. No minimum to buy. And glad to be of service. Just trying to make the world a better place.
I’ve always been on the lookout for “swiving”.
So what would be propper “swivewear?”
I’m guessing the less the better.
I haven’t played Scrabble in awhile – I’ll try to keep this one hidden in my arsenal until I can use it to score a bazillion points.
last time i played scrabble i was a teenager 🙂
Sarge: Agreed
Chappie: (((Wife))) and I find it enjoyable, entertaining, andintellectually stimulating. Especially when we play ‘dirty word Scrabble, — if you can use your word in a prurient manner, you get a ten point bonus (of course we don’t always finish those games 🙂 ).
Mikko: I think I have been playing Scrabble regularly for about 35 years or so.
Mark 16: 16 He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.
